Policy Development and Analysis for African Communities
Course Summary: This short course teaches community leaders, students, NGOs, and young innovators how to develop and analyze policy from an African perspective. Instead of copying policy from other countries, we build policy from what God gave Africa: our people, our belief and culture, our natural resources, our economy, and our trade. Students will learn the full policy cycle and how to use the 5-Pillar African Policy Framework to solve real problems in health, education, land, economy, and community justice. The course connects traditional wisdom with modern tools including AI and international trade policy. By the end, each student will draft a policy brief for their own community
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
1. Explain why African communities need policy that is built on culture, faith, and local context
2. Describe the 5 pillars of African policy: Community Development, Faith and Social Belief, Natural Resources, Economics and Equity, International Trade and Modern Mercantilism
3. Walk through the full policy cycle from problem identification to evaluation
4. Use basic policy analysis tools like stakeholder mapping, cost-benefit, and equity analysis
5. Apply AI tools to research and summarize government documents quickly
6. Write a 2-page policy brief and present it to community or government stakeholders
7. Show how traditional leadership and government systems can work together for better outcomes
